Ode To Growth - Porcelain

Porcelain has a strong memory; every step taken in haste becomes visible after firing, serving as a reminder of the importance of patience in my craft.

To those who followed the journey of this shape up close; thanks for letting me ramble endlessly about this shape, the inside mold piece that kept getting stuck, and the lovely and sometimes evil material that’s called porcelain 💗🤌🏻

Oh and yes the name changed just like this shape changed me. :)

In shaping our art, we inevitably shape ourselves

Ode to Growth is an exploration of how different approaches to making reflect our journey as creators. While the works in porcelain and glass are distinct, they share a common origin and narrative, rooted in a fascination with circular forms and the act of becoming.

The process of working with porcelain embodies grounding and the honing of skill and precision.Working with porcelain demands time, space, and unwavering attention to achieve the desired outcome. Porcelain has a strong memory; every step taken in haste becomes visible after firing, serving as a reminder of the importance of patience in my craft.

In contrast, the process of glass pieces tells a different story. Born from the same fascination with circular forms as the porcelain, the glass emerges through experimentation. The fluidity and speed of glass allow for quicker results and greater freedom for exploration and error. This process compels me to let go of perfectionism and act intuitively, the opposite of my meticulous work with porcelain.

Together, these works embody the essence of Ode to Growth. They are not merely a collection of ceramic and glass objects but narratives of becoming. They speak to the space we allow ourselves to grow and the time we dedicate to nurturing our craft.

Finally found the time to join @oasis_and_lagoon to travel up north to the glass factory in Boda! Very very glad I did because I went home with candy like results and great memories 🙌🏻🍬

‘The growing urn’ ⚱️

Growing urn is about time, emotions, reflection, acceptance, life, death and capturing the time of life in a personalized product.

An urn is a resting place, before death we all live our unique lives in various ways.
The “growing urn” is a very slow interactive production process that catches that unique life in a personalized way. Over the lifetime of one person a porcelain urn will be created. The aesthetics are based on your emotions and the speed of your life.

Overwhelmed with the nice words, interesting talks, and the love for the tumbling cups 💚💙

(new colors and re-stock coming in September).

For now, I’m taking a break in the sun and catch up on my sleep.☀️ 😴

Growing urn is about time, emotions, reflection, acceptance, life, death and capturing the time of life in a personalized product.

An urn is a resting place, before death we all live our unique lives in various ways.
