The porcelain works represent grounding and the honing of skill and precision. Working with porcelain demands time, space and unwavering attention to achieve the desired outcome. Porcelain has a strong memory; every step taken in haste becomes visible after firing, reminding me of the importance of patience in my craft.
In contrast, the glass pieces tell a different story. Born from the same fascination with circular forms as the porcelain, the glass emerges through experimentation. The fluidity and speed of glass allow for quicker results and more room for exploration and error. This process forces me to let go of perfectionism and think quickly,
the opposite of my meticulous work with porcelain.
Together, these works embody the essence of Ode to Growth. They are not merely a collection of ceramic and glass objects; they are narratives of becoming. They speak to the space we allow ourselves to grow and the time we invest in nurturing our craft. In shaping our art, we inevitably shape ourselves.
